After the massive success of Arcane seasons 1 and 2, Netflix and Riot Games may not be done with the animated universe just yet. Reports suggest that a brand new spin off series is being quietly developed, though no official confirmation has been made.

What could the spin off be about

The strongest rumor points to Welcome to Noxus. Recently, Riot released a five minute cinematic under the same name, featuring Mel Medara traveling back to her homeland of Noxus after the events of Arcane season 2. What made fans buzz is that the cinematic looked almost identical to Arcane in animation style, and it even came from Fortiche, the same studio behind the Netflix series.

While Riot insists that the cinematic was meant to promote new League of Legends content, fans could not help but see it as a test run or even a teaser for what a Noxus focused series might look like. The short also gave redesigned looks at characters like LeBlanc and Vladimir, which some believe could double as their Arcane versions if a spin off is officially greenlit.

Another rumored project is Blood of Steel, which would expand the universe further into brutal conflicts outside Piltover and Zaun. Riot has long teased that multiple projects are in development, making both possibilities feel very real.

When could we expect anything

If Netflix does move forward with a new Arcane spin off, fans should not expect it to arrive any time soon. With Fortiche’s animation style taking years to craft, the earliest realistic window would be 2027 or later. That said, a formal announcement could happen much sooner — possibly within the next year — if Riot and Netflix want to keep momentum after Arcane’s second season.

As of now, neither Netflix nor Riot has confirmed a new spin off, but with Arcane winning Emmys and pulling record breaking viewership, it feels like only a matter of time. Whether it’s Noxus, Blood of Steel, or something entirely different, the Arcane universe is set to expand in the years to come.

For now, all eyes are on Riot and Netflix to see if Mel’s journey home in Welcome to Noxus was simply a cinematic… or the first true glimpse at the next Arcane adventure.
