Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole official Netflix trailer
Dept Q fans have their next watch lined-up with an “adrenalin-fuelled” Netflix crime drama coming sooner than you think.

Marking the “beginning of a new era”, for the first time, renowned Norwegian crime author Jo Nesbo’s best-selling book series Detective Hole will be brought to life for the small screen.

Originally publishing the first book in the late 1990s, Detective Hole is a hit whodunnit serial killer mystery led by “iconic detective” Harry Hole.
It has now been confirmed that Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole will be making its Netflix debut on Thursday, March 26, with all nine episodes dropping in one go.
Teasing what’s to come, the streamer has also released its official trailer and going by the newly released clips, Detective Hole isn’t one for crime fans to miss out on.
Bringing Detective Hole to life is none other than Norwegian actor Tobias Santelmann who is probably best known for playing Ragnar in The Last Kingdom.
He is joined by The Killing’s Joel Kinnaman, Blind Spot actress Pia Tjelta and Exit actor Simon J Berger, just to name a few.
Describing Detective Hole as an “anti-hero”, the official synopsis reads: “Underneath the surface, this series is a nuanced character drama about two police officers – and supposed colleagues – operating on opposite sides of the law.
“Throughout the season, Harry goes head-to-head with his long-time adversary and corrupt detective Tom Waaler.
“Harry is a brilliant but tormented homicide detective who struggles with his demons.
“As the two navigate the blurred ethical lines of the criminal justice system, Harry must do all he can to catch a serial killer and bring Waaler to justice before it is too late.”
Actor Tobias Santelmann commented: “Harry Hole isn’t just another detective – he is a character readers around the world have lived with for almost 30 years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to bring him to the screen.
“I approached this role with deep respect for Jo Nesbø’s work and for the audience that has followed Harry for so long.
“At the same time, I had to find my Harry – or our Harry – and I hope we’ve created something that feels true to the spirit of the books while also standing on its own.”
While this is the first time Detective Hole will be brought to life in a TV adaptation, some of Nesbo’s other work has already been brought to life.
These include his books Headhunters, Occupied, Deadline Torp and The Hanging Sun which was made into a film in 2022.
Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole premieres on Thursday, March 26, on Netflix.
