For Maya’s family, it felt nothing short of a miracle.

“It’s incredible… I never thought things would go this way,” her mother shared. “For the first time, I feel excited to see her become the best version of who she can be after all of this.”

Beyond financial and medical support, Maya’s story has begun to resonate with a wider community. During a UFC event, her name was announced in the arena—a small but powerful gesture, honoring a young fighter battling through the toughest fight of her life.

At present, plans for transferring Maya are being carefully considered. The children’s hospital in Los Angeles offers an advanced brain trauma center along with extensive resources. Previously, Maya had not been stable enough to travel—but now, that possibility is finally within reach.

Still, everything remains tentative.

“If nothing serious happens between now and Monday, we can finally start looking toward the future,” her mother said.

A future that once felt distant is now slowly coming into view.

The family is also preparing for the next stages of Maya’s recovery—evaluating long-term care needs, including mobility support such as wheelchairs and rehabilitation options. It will be a long road, but now there is direction.

“It feels like the air has gotten lighter,” her mother shared. “And in Maya’s eyes… I can see a light again.”
