Untamed Season 2 Set to Shake Things Up: Release Date, Cast, and Plot Unveiled
The Netflix miniseries starring Eric Bana follows an investigation team in Yosemite National Park.
Afew years ago, it seemed like you couldnât turn on the news without hearing about someone who went missing in one of Americaâs national parks. Plus, hereâs this unsettling fact: The special agents of the NPS Investigative Services Branch currently attribute most of their ongoing cold cases to Yosemite National Park. Which is all to say, it makes sense that Netflix kicked around the idea of a murder-mystery procedural set around park rangers in the California national park.
Starring Eric Bana and coming from creator Mark L. Smith (American Primeval), Untamed follows special agent Kyle Turner, an investigator looking into the death of a Jane Doe who fell off the side of El Capitan. Turner is also five years into trying to solve the mystery of what happened to his own son, who was murdered at Yosemite by an unknown assailant. By the end of the six-episode miniseries on Netflix, audiences learn the answers to both murders and so much more. Turner uncovers a widespread drug operation at Yosemite, a murder-for-hire conspiracy, and a twist that affects every single character in the miniseries.
Though Turner ends the series by solving the cases and departing Yosemite, he leaves rookie agent Naya Vasquez (Lily Santiago) both his horse and his station. Much like any Netflix series, thereâs always room to continue at the streamer.
The âUntamedâ Finale Is So Complicated
The cast is already taking about the potential for season 2.
Will Untamed Return for Season 2?
Netflix has yet to officially renew Untamed for season 2, but that hasnât stopped any of the cast or creators from talking about it like itâs an inevitability.
In an interview with Variety, Bana stated that he and creator Mark L. Smith âspoke about what would happen to Kyle after this, in theory.â Plus, Smith told Netflixâs Tudum that heâs already plotting where Turnerâs head is at after leaving Yosemite. âInstead of Turner being in his element, heâll be in a land where he doesnât understand all the dangers and the risks, and he doesnât understand the people around [him],â Smith said. âHeâll be a little bit on his back foot and a little bit unsure, and heâll have to learn as well.â
Santiago was even more direct than her costar and the series creator during an interview with TV Insider. The actress behind Vasquez stated that âin a season 2, I want more solving of murders.â
Even more murders? âHonestly, I would love for her to get called up to go to a different place,â she continued. âBring me to a mountain in Hawaii. Iâm hoping that itâs new murder, new location, wilderness challenges, and new things to learn.â
If Turner and Vasquez do return for Untamed season 2, it sounds like theyâve got their work cut out for them.
