Eminem’s “Stans” is headed to the big screen.

The documentary, which premiered last month in London, will play at AMC Theatres locations for a one-weekend engagement beginning Aug. 7, distributors announced Tuesday.

Locally, the film will screen at the AMC Livonia, AMC John R 15, AMC Star Great Lakes 25, AMC Forum 30 and AMC Star Gratiot 15. Each theater has two showtimes listed per day through Sunday, Aug. 10. Tickets are on sale now through AMC’s website.

“Stans” is named for Eminem’s 2000 hit about an obsessed fan. According to the film’s synopsis, it follows “not just Eminem’s artistic trajectory, but that of his most loyal superfans… offering an entertaining and vibrant look at the modern nature of fandom and how social media has irrevocably changed the relationship between artists and their audience.”

“Stans” marks the feature documentary debut of Steven Leckart, who wrote 2019’s Muhammad Ali documentary, “What’s My Name.” It premiered at SXSW London in June.

In a review for the film for Mashable, Shannon Connellan called “Stans” “an ode to the connection between artistic empathy and mental health, a compelling exploration of fandom itself and parasocial relationships, and — specifically thanks to Eminem’s final line — a middle finger to anyone who has anything negative to say about it.”

The film is expected to arrive on Paramount+ later this year.

“Stans” isn’t Eminem’s only movie on the docket this summer; he also makes an appearance in “Happy Gilmore 2,” which premieres on Netflix July 25.
