Kevin James has another movie in the works—and it will include his friend Jelly Roll. The actor shared the news during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on July 17 during Jelly Roll’s guest-hosting stint. The revelation also helped explain James’ recent cameos on country music stages.

“You have been prepping for a film I know you’re excited about,” Jelly Roll, 40, said to James during the interview. “You are coming into the country music space and you’re going to shoot a country music film.”

“Yeah. It’s going to be a crazy one,” James, 60, replied. “And you know how crazy it is because my man is doing it with me. You’re going to be my partner in crime.”

Jelly Roll admitted there was “no way” he would let James do a country music movie and not be a part of it.

“So, we have to get me to be able to look like I know what I’m doing, right?” James told the country star.

James has been creeping into the country music arena all year. In February, he appeared in the music video for the Nate Smith/HARDY collaboration, “Nobody Likes Your Girlfriend.”

Then in June, he stunned fans by showing up onstage during Jelly Roll’s set at the Buckeye Country Superfest at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, OH. James and Jelly twinned in identical all-black outfits to perform a duet of the song “Need a Favor,” as seen in a YouTube video from the show.

In addition, James crashed Jelly Roll’s set at the Barefoot Country Music Fest in Wildwood, NJ, on June 22.

The King of Queens star told People magazine that he was a “good friend” of the “Save Me” singer. “We just happened to be in Columbus together and we just went out and had fun,” he said of the Buckeye show.

On July 12, James made a surprise appearance during Thomas Rhett’s show at Northwell at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York. The actor and comedian teamed up with Rhett to perform “Something ‘Bout a Woman,” per iHeart Country.
