Period drama fanatics absolutely must catch this “captivating” series that stands alongside the calibre of Bridgerton, Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice.
Launched earlier this month, Seeking Persephone on Prime Video is a four-part adaptation of author Sarah M Eden’s cherished 2008 novel and it’s ideal for admirers of The Other Bennet Sister which currently broadcasts on BBC One.
The limited series is a Regency-era historical romance centred on Persephone Lancaster (portrayed by Ryann Bailey) who weds the formidable Adam Boyce, Duke of Kielder (Jake Stormoen), to rescue her family from financial collapse.
She relocates to his austere and remote castle, endeavouring to understand the Duke more intimately whilst he strives to maintain distance from his new bride.
With its Beauty and the Beast-style narrative, it’s hardly surprising that audiences are effusive about this freshly released romantic drama.

At the centre of Seeking Persephone is the eponymous character, portrayed by relative newcomer Ryann Bailey, known for her roles in Mythica: Stormbound, Love Switch, Forgiveness Girl and 1 More Round.
She’s joined by her former Mythica co-star Jake Stormoen, who takes on the role of Adam Boyce. Stormoen is also recognised for his portrayal of Captain Garret Spears in the fantasy drama The Outpost.
The cast also features EastEnders actor Toby-Alexander Smith as Harry Windover, An American in Austen’s Catherine Hannay as Athena, and Spinning Out star Will Kemp as Richard.
