Jeopardy! fans praise ‘insanely talented’ Ken Jennings as he delivers answer to difficult clue
Jeopardy! fans couldn’t wait to compliment host Ken Jennings during the July 8 episode of the game show as he pronounced a particular tricky answer absolutely perfectly
Jeopardy! fans praised “insanely talented” host Ken Jennings after he delivered the answer to one difficult clue as they wondered how long he trained for it.
During the Tuesday, July 8 episode, three contestants took the stage to test out their wide-ranging trivia knowledge on Jeopardy. Among those participating in the season 41 round were Elise Canup, an advertising producer from Richmond, Virginia, Dan Puma, a salesperson from Chicago, Illinois, and Scott Riccardi, an engineer from Somerville, New Jersey.
And as Ken expertly delivered all of the clues, fans couldn’t hide their amazement as he switched languages to read off the answer to one challenging question in the “X” category. During the second round of Jeopardy, Ken read off the clue, “This South African language that utilizes both clicks & tones is spoken by over eight million people.”

Dan then chimed in with the correct answer for the $2,000 question, which was “Xhosa.” And when Ken confirmed that this was the right answer, he pronounced the name perfectly, incorporating the traditional clicking sounds that are used in the South African language.

This didn’t go unnoticed by viewers as Jeopardy fans took to a newly posted Reddit thread praising Ken for a job well done. One person wrote, “Very curious if Ken really made the clicking sound in ‘Xhosa’ himself and how long he trained for it, if he did. He seems to be insanely talented in languages, in addition to everything else.”

Xhosa, formerly spelled Xosa, is a Bantu language that is indigenous to Southern Africa – specifically in the Eastern Cape Province. This is one of the official languages of South Africa and Zimbabwe and is spoken by over 7 million people.
Ken has previously revealed that he a fluent in both English and Spanish and has previously showed off his talents on the gameshow. The 51-year-old television personality explained that he learned how to speak Spanish during a two-year religious mission in Madrid, Spain.

In addition to Spanish and English, Ken has also been captured on camera showing off his proficiency in Korean, although he doesn’t claim to be a fluent speaker. While Ken was born in Edmonds, Washington, he grew up in both South Korea and Singapore, where he was exposed to their native languages.
Before hosting Jeopardy, Ken also starred on the show himself, during which he secured his famous 74-day winning streak. After breaking this record, Ken became the highest-earning American game show contestant of all time, a title he held for more than 20 years.
Ken has been hosting Jeopardy for the past three years. He first started off as a co-host in July 2022, alongside Mayim Bialik, and later became the sole host in December 2023. Ken took over as host of the gameshow after former host Alex Trebek passed away following a 20-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
