“WE’RE READY” – Prince William and Princess Catherine Begin Renovation of £16M Windsor Great Park Home

The Prince and Princess of Wales are set to embark on a new chapter, as Kensington Palace confirms that later this year, Prince William and Princess Catherine will move their family into Forest Lodge, their “forever home” in Windsor Great Park.

A Georgian Gem in Windsor
Forest Lodge, an eight-bedroom Grade II–listed Georgian house, is located just a short distance from the family’s current residence, Adelaide Cottage. Originally built around 328 years ago, the property retains historic features such as ornate plaster cornices, marble fireplaces, Venetian windows, and a vaulted half-barrel hallway ceiling.

A major £1.5 million restoration in 2001 preserved these details, and the lodge—previously rented for £15,000 per month—is now valued at approximately £16 million.

A Fresh Start for the Wales Family
Sources close to the couple say the move represents more than a change of address. After recent years marked by the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and health challenges affecting King Charles and Princess Catherine, Forest Lodge is seen as a long-term sanctuary, offering both stability and a return to normalcy for William, Kate, and their three children: Princess Charlotte, Prince George, and Prince Louis.

The couple will maintain their preference for a household without live-in staff, reflecting a desire for a more intimate, family-focused home rather than a traditional palace setting.

Renovations Underway
Planning applications submitted in June indicate that internal and external renovations have already begun, with approvals recently granted. Updates include new windows, doors, ceilings, and floors, ensuring that Forest Lodge will be fully ready for the family by the end of the year.

Located just four miles from Adelaide Cottage and within the scenic Windsor Great Park, Forest Lodge keeps the family connected to their current routines, schools, and local community.
