‘Silent Witness’ Fans Have A New Mystery To Binge — Emilia Fox’s Underrated Italian Crime Drama Is Back For Season 3

Fans missing the tense investigations and familiar on-screen dynamic of Silent Witness may have found their next television obsession. Emilia Fox is back solving mysteries in Signora Volpe, an underrated British crime drama that swaps rainy Birmingham streets for the beautiful Italian countryside.

The series has returned for its third season, giving viewers another chance to follow Fox in a very different role from the one that made her a familiar face on British television.

Emilia Fox Trades The Lab For A Life Of Mystery

In Silent Witness, Fox is best known as Dr Nikki Alexander, the forensic pathologist who helps investigators uncover the truth behind complex cases.

But in Signora Volpe, she takes on an entirely different challenge.

Fox stars as Sylvia Fox, a former MI6 spy who becomes increasingly disillusioned with her life in London and travels to Italy for her niece’s wedding, hoping for a quieter existence.

Her plans quickly unravel when she arrives to discover that the groom has disappeared and a woman’s body has been found in his garden.

What begins as a family visit soon becomes a dangerous investigation, drawing Sylvia into a world of secrets, suspicious characters and unexpected twists.

A Slower-Paced Thriller With Plenty Of Intrigue

Unlike some fast-paced crime dramas, Signora Volpe takes a more measured approach, allowing its mysteries and characters to develop against the backdrop of rural Italy.

The picturesque scenery adds a different atmosphere to the investigations, while Sylvia’s intelligence and experience as a former spy give her an unusual advantage when solving cases.

The series has also attracted positive comments from viewers who appreciate Emilia Fox’s performance and the supporting cast.

One viewer praised the beautiful scenery, acting and intriguing stories, while another highlighted how convincingly Fox makes Sylvia feel different from her Silent Witness character.

Who Stars In Signora Volpe?

Alongside Emilia Fox, the series features Tara Fitzgerald as Isabel Vitale, Giovanni Cirfiera as Capitano Riva, Matteo Carlomagno as Matteo Vitale, Imma Piro as Antonella Vitale and Marianne Leoni as Raffaella Tasso.

The supporting cast helps bring the Italian setting and its network of relationships to life as Sylvia becomes involved in one mystery after another.

Where Can You Watch It?

The third season of Signora Volpe premiered on October 5, with its first episode, Bitter Harvest, available to stream on Acorn TV.

The streaming service offers a seven-day free trial, after which the reported subscription price is £5.99 per month.

The first two seasons are also available on Channel 4 in the UK.

For viewers looking for another character-driven crime mystery, the series offers a combination of espionage, investigation, family secrets and Italian scenery.

With Emilia Fox stepping away from the forensic lab and into the role of a former spy turned detective, Signora Volpe offers Silent Witness fans a fresh mystery to explore — and season three is now available to stream.
