A war film has been described as a ‘must-watch’ by viewers and has received a 92 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Slightly more unique than most, the film is a real-time, docudrama-style, and is based on the true events of the 2006 US Navy SEAL mission in Ramadi, Iraq.

It follows the story of a platoon, as their mission quickly turns into a fight for survival.

And while viewers have noted that the film is an outstanding watch, there could be an interesting reason why.

What makes this war movie hit harder than any before?

Unlike other films, this was created from the memories of the people who were there.

Additionally, it was used to help former SEAL Elliott Miller, who suffered memory loss as a result of the incident.

The movie avoids a traditional narrative structure and musical score.

Instead, it aims for extreme realism, with a storyline which unfolds in real time.

The ‘brutal’ nature was to emphasize the chaotic and immediate nature of combat.

One viewer noted: “I say this as a compliment and not as a criticism, I wanted it to end.”

Another described it as the ‘most forceful and unflinching depiction of combat.’

One said: “A torn-off limb, misplaced weapons, unrecognisable bodies.

“It is the closest to frontline action many of us are likely to get. Thank god, but the glimpse is electrifying.”

Why are critics divided?

While the film has had glowing reviews from many viewers, others have noted that it relies to heavily on ‘clichés.’

Another claimed that the creators threw many of the ‘rules of drama’ out of the window.

Others noted that it ended too abruptly for their liking.

They said: “It’s worth a once over for sure.

“But I probably won’t revisit it.”

Why is Warfare being hailed as a must-see?

Warfare, released earlier this year, has extremely impressive ratings, and it’s clear that fans were touched by this depiction.

It’s currently available to watch on Amazon Prime, as well as Sky, and Apple TV.

The creators strove for authenticity during it’s creation, with the tagline being: “Everything is based on memory.”

One viewer said: “Went into this with no context whatsoever, so I was surprised that this was just a moment from a man’s actual experience when he was serving in the army.

“The way this was directed made you feel anxious and scared because you don’t know what’s gonna happen next.

“This was quite the film, not many war films like this, so this is a standout among the rest.”
