Harry arrived alone at the inaugural Invictus Spirit Awards at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich on Thursday evening, dressed in black tie and wearing his military medals.

He smiled for photographers, greeted guests and posed for selfies with wounded veterans before taking his place at an evening celebrating courage, resilience and the international community surrounding the Invictus Games.

Reuters photographs confirm Harry arrived at the September 17 ceremony and mingled with guests, while ITV reported that the appearance was his first public engagement since returning to Britain.

Yet one person was conspicuously absent.

Meghan.

For longtime royal watchers, that immediately seemed noteworthy.

The Duchess of Sussex has frequently accompanied Harry at Invictus-related occasions over the years, often becoming one of the most photographed figures at the event.

This time, however, Harry walked in alone.
