It is the kind of royal photograph that seems to invite a thousand interpretations.

That has not stopped the moment from resurfacing online, where it has repeatedly been presented as evidence of a supposed “harsh lesson” delivered by the late monarch.

Now another claim has been attached to the encounter: that lip-readers supposedly deciphered a disappointed exchange between Harry and Meghan after they attempted to ask Queen Elizabeth for permission to do something she would not allow.

There is just one major problem.
