Chad Michael Murray has officially returned to Nova Scotia to begin filming Season 4 of Sullivan’s Crossing — and this time, the 43-year-old star is hinting at plot twists, relationship shake-ups, and a heartfelt family gesture that left him more emotional than fans might expect.

The Canadian drama — based on Robyn Carr’s beloved book series (the same author behind Virgin River) — first premiered in 2023 to rave reviews up north. But after hitting Netflix in July with its first two seasons, the show quickly found a massive new global audience. Season 3, which dropped on August 11, has been called “the best yet” by Murray himself — and he promises Season 4 will raise the stakes even higher.

“This is the people’s show,” Murray says. “Our job is to keep telling stories that captivate — and Season 4 will do that and more.”

Balancing Stardom and Fatherhood

Away from the cameras, Murray’s life looks very different from his early 2000s heartthrob days on One Tree Hill. “We’re immersed in Nova Scotia. I coach my son’s football team here. It’s the dream. I just want to tell stories that feel real and stay rooted.”

And while Sullivan’s Crossing is dominating the conversation, Murray hasn’t forgotten his earlier projects — from Freaky Friday to A Cinderella Story. Asked about the possibility of a sequel to the latter, he admits he already has ideas — even an answer to the question fans have asked for decades: How did Austin not recognize Sam in that mask?

“Love is blind,” Murray jokes. “But don’t worry — if that sequel ever happens, I’ve got the perfect solution. I’ve been holding onto it for years.”
