The concept isn’t exactly new. Elon Musk first tweeted in January 2018 that he wanted to create “an old-school drive-in, roller-skates & rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in LA.” At the time, the idea was met with skepticism—and a fair amount of internet memes.

But behind the scenes, Tesla’s design team began experimenting. By 2022, renderings had been submitted to the Los Angeles City Planning Department. Construction began quietly in 2023, and by mid-2025, the site was nearing completion.

The diner, located at 7001 W. Santa Monica Blvd, occupies two floors, includes rooftop seating, 32 Supercharger stalls, and has already drawn thousands of social media influencers eager to livestream from the site.

The Food: Vegan-Friendly, AI-Curated, and Surprisingly Good

Tesla partnered with a team of chefs, nutritionists, and AI developers to design a menu tt’s both futuristic and fast. Items include:
