Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Kids, Archie and Lilibet May Visit the U.K. for the First Time in Over 3 Years It’s a big U-turn from the Duke of Sussex calling it “impossible” to do so last year.

As Prince Harry looks to be poised to regain his armed security while in the U.K.—protection he lost after stepping back from being a working royal in 2020—Harry taking his kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet to his home country looks more likely than it has in years.

Sources told People that the outlook is “positive” that the government will reverse its decision last year to not grant Harry security, and The Mail on Sunday reported that it was found that Harry met the criteria to have his security reinstated. An insider close to Harry said, per the outlet, “It’s now a formality. Sources at the Home Office have indicated that security is nailed on for Harry.”

The Duke of Sussex has said over and over that, without such security, he feels uncomfortable bringing his wife Meghan Markle and their kids to the U.K., saying after losing his court case to reinstate his taxpayer-funded security last May that bringing his family to the U.K. would be “impossible,” adding, “I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point.”

In October, news emerged that a female stalker came within feet of Harry on more than one occasion when he was visiting the U.K. in September of last year. Following this, in December, a full-scale review of Harry’s security commenced in what The Telegraph called “a major U-turn by the Home Office.” Harry’s lawyers, per The Daily Mail, have argued that the withdrawal of his security has left his life “at stake.”

“The only thing that could scupper his approval now would be an intervention from the Palace,” a source told the outlet over the weekend. That seems unlikely, as King Charles “is said to be very keen” to see his grandchildren on his home soil again, per the publication. The last time the King saw Archie and Lilibet was over three years ago in June 2022, when the Sussex family of four visited for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.

“If you knew about the kind of threats Harry and his children have been getting, then you would understand why he doesn’t want to bring the kids over until police protection is granted,” a source told The Mail on Sunday. According to an insider speaking to The Sun, “Harry has made it clear that he would love his dad [King Charles] to come and visit him and the family” at their home in California when the King visits the U.S. later in 2026.

“He knows that they are strained, but he has mentioned several times a hope that his father can have a relationship with his grandchildren,” the source added.

The King, too, is interested in a relationship. Royal biographer Ingrid Seward said, per Tatler, that Charles “does not want a FaceTime relationship with his son’s children. He wants to know them and be involved with their lives while they are still young enough to be able to learn from his wisdom.”
