Now even mere mortals can have a royal wedding.
This week,Ā The Kingās Foundation officially announced The Kingās Hall, a brand-new wedding and events venue being added to Dumfries House. Notably, bookings are already open, even though the space wonāt debut until summer 2027ā¦. So now would be a good time to get on it if you’re keen to secure a date.
āIntroducing⦠The Kingās Hall ā our new wedding and events venue at Dumfries House,ā the foundation wrote in an Instagram post, confirming the hall will host āweddings, private events, charitable events and more,ā for up to 200 guests. The caption also makes clear where the money goes, and it’s not to help King Charles save for a new foosball table in his rec room: āAll proceeds from events and tours⦠help fund the charitable work of The Kingās Foundation.ā
Thereās also a distinctly Charles-coded angle to the project. Sustainability is baked in, from biomass boilers and heat pumps to locally sourced, organic food ā much of it grown on the estate itself. Revenue from weddings and events will help fund education programs, conservation work, and hospitality training that supports thousands of people each year.
And judging by the comments, the wedding world is already paying attention. Photographers, celebrants, and event professionals flooded the post with enthusiasm, calling the venue āstunning,ā praising the Dumfries House team, and signaling that this will be a sought-after destination for luxury, purpose-driven weddings.
Still, thereās an interesting tension here. On one hand, this is a philanthropic project tied to community investment and job creation. On the other, itās another example of the modern monarchy leaning into commercialized luxury experiences, repackaging royal property as a premium product for a global clientele.
