During theirĀ first-ever full royal engagement via video callĀ amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, William said about their Easter plans, “There will be a lot of chocolate being eaten here, don’t worry!”

King Charles and Queen Camilla are set to begin Easter celebrations on Thursday byĀ taking part in the Royal Maundy Service, where they will distribute gifts of “Maundy Money” in a tradition thatĀ dates backĀ to 600 A.D.

The special coins are given to those over the age of 70 for outstanding service to their communities. The number of recipients matches the age of the monarch, so this year, 77 men and 77 women will receive the gift.

The Royal Maundy Service is set to take place at St. Asaph Cathedral in Wales, the U.K.’s smallest ancient cathedral, this year. It marks the first time the occasion has been held in Wales since 1982 and only the second time in its history.
