In a devastating turn that has shattered a family and shocked communities across Ireland, 29-year-old mother-of-one Scarlett Faulkner has tragically passed away in hospital – more than three weeks after she was brutally attacked on the side of a busy road.
The Limerick woman, described by loved ones as a devoted mum, fought bravely for her life at Cork University Hospital but was taken off life support on Sunday. She died peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2026, with her family by her side.
Faulkner suffered catastrophic head injuries in the horrifying assault on the R494 near Birdhill, Co Tipperary, on March 21. She was found seriously injured on the roadside shortly before 5:30pm and was airlifted to hospital in critical condition.
Family’s Heartbreaking Farewell
Her devastated family confirmed the news, saying they were overwhelmed with support but “in shock and disbelief.” Tributes have poured in online, with her brother posting a simple yet emotional: “RIP my lovely sister Scarlett.”

Two Charged in Connection with the Attack
