A new  Netflix miniseries called La Palma has left social media users furious over what one person called âanother mediocre offering.â
Several X and Instagram users have not stopped writing about La Palma ever since it dropped on December 12.
Centered around an actual Spanish island off the coast of Africa , the Norwegian miniseries focuses on the chaos ignited by signs of volcanic eruptions that could trigger a tsunami.
Despite the show being at the top of Netflix showsâ most-watched list, it left several viewers with mixed reviews â either leaving watchers terrified, anxious or bored.
âSo basically La Palma on Netflix has completely destroyed the tourist industry because I know for d**n sure I certainly will never go there #lapalmanetflix,â an X user wrote.
At least two X users were intrigued by the showâs natural disaster premise, and were interested in the subject matter rather than watching the actual show.
ââLa palmaâ on Netflix got me reading about climate change, volcanic eruption and the Canary Islands,â an X user tweeted.
Although a few critics have praised the show for its visuals and plotline, it has not stopped social media users from criticizing La Palmaâs characters.
Others had issues with the emotional toll the show based on its plotline.
One person wrote: âIgnore La Palma on Netflix unless you want to cry like a baby and get all emotional and s**t.â
âThis Netflix show La Palma is giving me so much anxiety,â another tweet read.
Several X users admitted to not enjoying any part of La Palma, and some tweeters even revealed they regretted watching it.
âThe Netflix series La Palma about a volcanic eruption and tsunami is perhaps the worst series Iâve ever seen. And I see some very bad things, eh,â an X user wrote.
Although some social media users didnât mind the show, and one person insisted watching the show was the âbest four hoursâ of their life.
ââLa Palmaâ on Netflix is really worth a watch. Nothing groundbreaking but well done,â an X user wrote.
Multiple X users advised Netflix fans not to watch the show and more than one person admitted they regretted seeing it

Despite a major room upgrade, the rocky side of the relationship between parents Fredrik (Anders Baasmo) and Jennifer (Ingrid BolsĂž Berdal) comes out.
By the time Fredrik and Jennifer ended their arguments on a low note, geological researchers Marie (Thea Sofie Loch NĂŠss) and Haukur (Ălafur Darri Ălafsson) discover the devastation that could occur from inevitable volcanic disruptions.
A series of earthquakes begin to rock the area, and an aircraft that Fredrik and Jenniferâs daughter was supposed to be on disappears into a volcanic cloud.
The four loved ones miraculously survive but the emotional issues within the family and the natural disasters caused all four of them to separate.

The volcanic disruptions begin a series of catastrophes, and needless to say, not everyone survives
Television critics who watched La Palma by and large praised the show.
Chris Joyce, a critic from the Movies and Munchies YouTube channel did not enjoy the character development but praised the âstunning visuals.â
âThe juxtaposition between the happy holiday vibes of the family with the looming danger that none of them can fathom is an interesting thing to watch,â television expert Archi Sengupta wrote for Leisure Byte.
âIt adds drama and tension to the narrative and gives us different perspectives to watch that make viewers get the full scope of the disaster.â
The critic added that La Palma was âenjoyable and binge-watch-worthyâ making fans watch a âterrifying reality.â
Another critic explained La Palmaâs episodes feature stuff viewers have seen before but are not âlayered with melodrama.â
âLa Palma is fairly typical disaster fare, but a relatively small main cast and a lack of melodrama make the show worth a watch, especially because the season is only 4 episodes and just over 3 hours of runtime,â critic Joel Keller wrote for Decider.
